Vancouver Island Association of Women Police (VIAWP)

The VIAWP is an independent body that welcomes members from any Municipal or Federal law enforcement agency on Vancouver Island. It has been created to help support, promote and empower the personal and professional development of women in law enforcement as well as provide the opportunity for training, mentoring, networking and community engagement.

Mission Statement:

To unite members across Vancouver Island in order to create and promote bonds of friendship and cooperation to support, enrich and empower women – personally and professionally.

Vision Statement:

VIAWP envisions the continued development of members through an ongoing exchange of personal and professional experiences, mentorship, networking and collaboration.

Core Values:

Women-Centered: In keeping with our mission, we will try to focus on issues that directly impact women in general and in law enforcement.

Collaboration: We believe that collaboration and inclusion are the basis of equality, and accordingly, we will seek out many ideas and perspectives.

Empowerment: Women in policing have unique challenges and we strive to empower members to have the confidence to have a voice and make decisions on their own terms for their personal and professional lives.

Diversity: We acknowledge and respect the social, cultural and gender uniqueness of each and every member.

Support: We believe that support networks are key elements of mental and physical wellness. We will recognize, support and inspire one another.
